Guilt | My World/Your World {Northern Virginia Family & Children’s Photographer}

The amazing ladies over at 4 the Love of Focus put together a challenge for it’s member this year, which I am pleased to be participating in. We partnered up with an out of town photographer and each week/month we receive a theme and post our pictures side by side. Most members are doing this either weekly or monthly. Well my partner and I decided with our hectic schedules weekly was out of the question and monthly didn’t seem like enough, so we are shooting for every other week.

My partner, Stacey Rainer, lives in Illinois. I can’t wait to learn more about her and to see more of her work. Be sure to check out her blog post and see what she has to say about each theme!

This weeks theme is GUILT. Wow so many things in life to feel guilty about. Let’s take a single woman first off-“Wow I ate too much today,” ” I didn’t make it to the gym today,” “I haven’t called my friends in a few days,” “My house really is a mess” Now add on being married and being a parent “I gave my kids McDonald’s for the 4th time this week,” “I didn’t brush my kids teeth today cause I was too tired,” “My kids watched 4 hours of TV today,” “I can’t believe my daughter has 45 dresses,” Now add on being a working parent “I don’t get to spend enough time with my kids”

That brings me to my photo this week. I think it’s both a blessing and a curse to have a job where I can work from home. I definitely get to spend more ‘time’ with my kids, but it’s not always quality time. Everyday I hear “Mom come play a game with me” or “Mommy sit here play trains” and many times my response has to be “Not now honey, I’m working”

This week it was “Mom will you come play dolls with me”:

Aw…that’s SO tough to hear and it sure turns up the inner guilt. I got it a few times today myself. :)
